snow opens the lungs of heaven, the sutures unraveling,
the cancer has returned. burning fevers fade with summer,
now the icy breath belies the death, everywhere. under
blankets, we blow loads made of feathers, pearl dust,
and blustery gusts of wind and fury. you stirred all of this
in me, before the holidays, when memory will make
liars of us all.
